BS students had strong academic grounding in marketing theory but limited exposure to the tools a working digital marketer uses daily. Employers expected graduates to arrive with a campaign portfolio and a working grasp of SEO, paid advertising and analytics — none of which the standard curriculum provided.

A NAVTTC-certified programme delivered on campus at KUST, structured around live briefs rather than slides. Every student was assigned a real business scenario and had to research, plan, run and report a campaign end to end.

Students completed the programme with NAVTTC certification and a documented campaign portfolio, able to walk into an agency or in-house marketing role and demonstrate the full workflow rather than describe it.

Students could write basic HTML and CSS but had never taken a site from design to a deployed, working product. Database integration, version control and deployment were missing entirely, so even capable students were unable to present a complete project.

Mobile was the fastest-growing part of the market, but students had no route into it. Interface design, data persistence and API integration were all new, and without a device to test on, an app project could not be judged.

A NAVTTC-certified mobile programme built around build-test-fix cycles on real handsets, with each student shipping a working application that consumed live third-party data.
